The Subconscious Diet Can Help Protect Your Child From Type 2 Diabetes

Filed under: Meds + Medicine — admin @ 1:03 am

Until obesity became epidemic, type 2 diabetes was virtually unheard of in children and teens. It was originally called “adult-onset” because it was mainly seen after middle age. At least 9 million American children are seriously overweight and another 9 million are heavy enough to be at risk, yet studies show that many parents are in denial about their children’s obesity.

16% of U.S. children have weight problems but doctors make weight reduction suggestions to parents about their children in only 1% of visits. There are a number of reasons for this denial and lack of concern:

Obese mothers nearly always recognize that they are overweight but only 1 in 5 correctly identified their overweight children.

Many doctors are just too busy to become involved in problems not directly related to the symptoms the child was brought in for.

78% of the population of the U.S. does not see being overweight as a health problem.

Many cultures equate thinness with poverty and starvation; to them a fat child is a strong and healthy child.

Many parents believe that the child will grow into their weight.

A child that is overweight will very likely become an obese adult. Studies show at least 15 conditions causally related to obesity. They include diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, hip fractures, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, end-stage renal disease, liver disease, urinary incontinence and several forms of cancer.

For many overweight children the possibilities of disease in the future is not a concern. There is a far more pressing cause of pain for these obese children on a daily basis. This pain is caused by discrimination by their classmates. Other children are much more direct and cruel then most adults when it comes to ridiculing the “fat kids” they associate with. A first grader is likely to believe that thinner is better and young children will put these thoughts in to action by excluding their heaver classmate from their team or by calling them names.

This ridicule may cause a child to retreat from social interaction or to become a bully, using their weight to intimidate their tormentors. Either course of action only causes the child more grief and frustration in the long run.

Most children are not receptive to traditional restrictive diets. When they are told that they can no longer have the foods they crave, such as: white bread, candy, cookies, and ice cream they feel that they are being punished. It makes little difference how much time the parent spends trying to convince the child it is for their own good.

Children will often find access to the foods that are being denied to them at home with friends, relatives who don’t believe in diets or by spending their own money to purchase the sweets. If the child doesn’t have money they may begin to steal the foods they crave.

Many times when the child gains access to the forbidden items they will binge. 30% of girls and 16% of boys who were on a diet admitted to binging on foods that had been forbidden to them when they got the chance. Now the child not only feels punished by the parent, they have added guild to the emotional mix by defying their parents’ orders or breaking the law. This guilt causes stress that may cause the child to act out in other more serious ways.

Since traditional diets do not work for most people, it is far past the time to start looking for ways to change a person’s way of thinking about food, states Hugh B. Sanders the author of the Subconscious Diet: It’s not what you put in your mouth; it is what you put in your mind! (www.TheSubconsciousDiet.com)

This is not hypnosis. Hypnosis implies external control but what is vital to any weight reduction program is a system of internal control. A child or an adult must feel that any change, such as a diet, is not only their decision but it is also something they understand and want to accomplish. Most diets are only restrictions on eating, very few offer the steps to changing a persons mind about the way they approach food.

The Subconscious Diet shows a person how to develop a new operating system for the subconscious mind. The subconscious is very much like a computer in that it holds all of a person’s values, habits, memories, and is constantly working to come up with answers to each situation that life present us every day. Just like a computer we can choose to change how the mind goes about finding the solutions. The steps are relatively simple:

Clearly stating our goals (weight loss is a goal).

Writing out and repeating those goals daily (affirmations).

Getting rid of fear, anger, hate, and guilt (letting go!).

Learning to associate only with positive friends (get away from negativity).

Vividly seeing the desired end result in our own mind (visualization).

Children are ideal candidates for the Subconscious Diet because they are more in touch with the subconscious portion of their minds then adults generally are and they naturally day dream (Visualize). If the parents help the child direct those day dreams to focus on a positive view of the child’s body, eating habits, and physical activities, the parent can assure a healthy path for the future of their children.

The catch for the parents and it is really a benefit, is that they can’t just tell their children what the kids have to do. The parent must lead by example. The adults in the family must incorporate all of these steps into their own lives. “Do as I say, not as I do!” just won’t work and has never worked for children.

Eighteen million children are at risk of suffering pain and premature death if their weight is left uncontrolled. If your child is getting heaver each day, you have to make a decision about the amount of effort you are willing to put forth to make your child’s life as good as it should be.

Auto Loan Financing Basics

Filed under: Loans Center — admin @ 10:08 pm

Thousands of first-time car buyers enter the market every day. Unfortunately, many such buyers are not familiar with the basics of auto loan financing and often make costly mistakes.

New car buyers should educate themselves about auto financing long before they step into a dealer showroom. Learning about financing from a dealer salesperson on the day you intend to buy a car is not the best way.

The factors that determine how much you’ll pay for an auto loan are 1)amount to be financed, 2)loan term (months), and 3) interest rate (finance charges).

The amount to be financed will include the vehicle price that you and the dealer agree upon, plus any additional costs such as credit insurance, extended warranty, and dealer-installed optional equipment. This amount may also include fees and taxes involved in the purchase. This amount can be reduced by any down payment, rebates, or trade-in allowance.

Loan term is the number of payment months, and can range from 24 months to 72 months or more. Generally, the longer the loan, the lower the payments. However, there are disadvantages to long-term loans. Long loans with lower payments do not pay down the loan principal as quickly as a shorter loan. This often creates a “negative equity” situation in which the loan balance exceeds the current market value of the vehicle. This can become a problem if the owner wants to sell or trade for another vehicle in the middle of the loan. Furthermore, if the vehicle is stolen or totaled in an accident in mid-loan, insurance only pays current market value, not outstanding loan balance.

Interest rate determines what you’ll pay in finance charges for your loan. At the time of this writing, the national average interest rate for a 36-month new-car loan is 6.28% (from BankRate.com). Used car rates are higher. Rates can vary from lender to lender, and dealer to dealer. Dealers often mark up a lenders rate, so it pays to shop around for your own financing rate from banks and credit unions. Your interest rate is also dependent on your credit score. A poor score can result in a high rate.

Car manufacturers frequently offer low promotional interest rates, even as low as 0%, which are usally very good deals. However, make sure you understand all the details and conditions that go along with the deal before you accept.

One of the best ways to explore how the above factors affect the payment amount of an auto loan is by using a full-function online calculator such as the Auto Loan Calculator.

All About Gardening

Filed under: Online Gardening — admin @ 10:26 am

Gardening is perhaps one of the best hobbies that a more laborious nature lover can take up. The reason why I choose to call this hobby laborious is because it surely does involve a good deal of physical activity. This hobby is not meant for those nature lovers who simply want to bask in the natural beauty that already exists. Rather it is an ideal pass time for those who want to make their own contribution to the nature.

In order to be successful in gardening one must have the following qualities: -

1.) Besides having a love for gardening you should also have the will and determination to pursue your hobby.

2.) You must be physically fit and agile. Laziness and gardening are anonymous to each other.

3.) Learn to exchange your ideas and information with like-minded people who can show an equal passion for gardening.

4.) Try laying your hands on almost any books, magazines or articles that can enhance your knowledge on gardening.

5.) Be prepared to invest a small amount of your earnings in purchasing the “Can’t do without”, gardening tools.

The world of gardening is wide and it has immense possibilities for those who want to explore it with the right zeal and enthusiasm. You can choose from indoor gardening, outdoor gardening, landscaping, cultivating exotic herbs, growing bonsais and thus the list is endless. However it is important to do a fair amount of research work before delving into any of the above fields. You should master up the art of choosing the right plants and also learn the techniques favorable for their productivity and growth.

Growing plants is not enough. Deciding where the plants should grow is also an important aspect of gardening. Nothing can be more distasteful than a garden which has color clashing flowers growing all around in a haphazardly manner. So be careful about allocating the plants their respective locations. Arrange the assortments of flowers in accordance with their heights, textures and colors so that they complement each other without diminishing the beauty of your garden.

Keep aside one day from the entire week to be your gardening day. Generally week -ends would be a good choice. On this day, equip your self with all the essential gardening tools and accessories and get down to your work. If you have children or friends who are equally interested in gardening call for their assistance. The more the merrier!

Once you are done for the day clean your tools well and store them in their right place. Be sure to maintain your gardening tools because well maintained tools can give you years of good performance. After all tools aren’t something that you can afford to buy every week.

Whether you are an efficient gardener or not can be best proved by your garden itself. So stop twiddling your thumbs and put your green fingers to use. As far as gardening is concerned, if you have really put in hard work your efforts will never go futile.

One of the most widely respected and important American publications of the last century is Forbes Magazine. Forbes Magazine was founded in 1917 by Scottish immigrant B.C. Forbes (who was, at the time, the leading columnist for the Hearst newspaper chain). Forbes was born in Aberdeen shire in Scotland and moved from Johannesburg, South Africa to New York performing various editorial and writing gigs just before he founded this vastly important business publication.

Coming up on its 90th Anniversary in 2007, the Forbes Empire remains one of the largest and most successful family businesses of its kind in the world. Steve Forbes, once a political candidate for President of the United States of America, is the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief and has a column in each and every issue called “Fact and Comment” which is quite popular with Forbes readers.

Each and every year, Forbes publishes its very popular list of the richest people and the biggest companies on Earth (who also, by the way, subscribe to this most accomplished publication). Absolutely no merger, ad campaign or lawsuit of importance on the planet goes unnoticed by Forbes Magazine and the stories in each issue will always vividly focus on the movers and financial innovators that are shaking things up in the business world. Shannon Janssen Offers Impressive Body of Piano Solo Work

Filed under: Better Music — admin @ 10:00 am

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cedar Rapids, Iowa–January 30, 2006–Shannon Janssen
lives to play the piano and every album she releases is another
testament to her dedication to the craft of a true musical
artisan. She currently has three instrumental recordings
available covering a multitude of genres. Heart Journey
(2001) and Piano Paintings (2002) engages listeners
with a tremendous range of styles and moods including jazz, new
age, and classical. The most recent release, The Keys of
Christmas
(2005), came just in time for the holidays and
continues to focus on Shannon’s continuing development as one of
the best independent solo artist in the U.S.

Born and raised in Iowa, Shannon Janssen began playing a small
electric organ when she was very young. When she took lessons,
her instructor prohibited her from playing anything but
classical. Shannon continued lessons through high school then
studied piano with a passionate pursuit that led her to a
longstanding job as a church pianist for 20 years as well as
teaching private lessons for twelve years. So many people
enjoyed the music Shannon created that they wanted a keepsake of
her work; hence, this inspired the work on Heart Journey and
subsequent albums.

Shannon’s own take on her music is-”I like music that is
touching and soul stirring, which makes you stop to ponder,
taking you to another place. This kind of music can be in many
categories. But instrumental music without words, allows the
listener to use their imagination to tell the story or to paint
the picture within the song. The only clue is the title…you
decide how the story goes and ends. It’s like reading a book
verses watching a movie. Your imagination paints the scene and
characters, thus allowing the music to take you on a journey. It
has always been my desire and dream to create music such as
this.”

If you have not discovered this wonderful artist by now there
are three great recordings to experience. This music can fit any
mood or change it if you are in one. Shannon Janssen and her
piano recordings take you to a musical nirvana only found in the
heavens above.

Compromising American Security

Filed under: Political Stuff — admin @ 9:57 am

It’s rare that you will see me criticizing President Bush but his latest decision to outsource the handling and running of 6 ports to an Arab company has me fuming.

I’m against the outsourcing of American security to any foreign country or company. President Bush has missed the mark here. What’s even worse is that he’s overlooked the criticism of many Republicans and Democrats in Congress.

President Bush has said throughout his presidency that America is at war against terror. Then why would he compromise the security at six American ports (Florida, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Louisiana)? We’re not sure but we think it has something to do with money.

So is America now whoring American security? You bet. We have been pimped and we’re sitting back and taking it. This is extremely shameful.

President Bush says that American security isn’t compromised. How is that possible? Why would a foreign company from Dubai, UAE care about American security?
While the UAE is now an ally in the fight against terrorism, 9/11 terror funds were funneled by Al Qaeda through Dubai.
The UAE also recognized the Taliban as a legitimate government.

I believe that the deal should be delayed for 30 to 60 days so that both Senate and Congressional committees can review the deal and propose legislation limiting or cancelling the deal if necessary.

The fact that Bush has threatened to veto any legislation prohibiting the deal is terrible and out of touch with concerns of the average American.

What is the president afraid of? If there is nothing to worry about, let the Senate and House of Representatives review the deal and draw its own conclusions.

The House and Senate represent America and have the right to decide what’s in America’s best interests.

I hope that President Bush will come to his senses and allow the Senate and House to decide what’s best for America.
